Health & wellbeing data helps maintain funding for paddlesports in Wales.
Canoe Wales and Talent Pathway iD join forces to help evidence the impact of Health & Wellbeing of their members and helps drive future funding opportunities within Paddlesport.
Canoe Wales, The National governing body for Paddlesport in Wales is committed to advocating for improved waterways throughout Wales for their members. The benefits of Paddlesport on your health and well-being have long been a reason why many people take up the sport and we want to ensure waterways remain open for generations to come. The ability to get out on the water for a relaxing paddle, or pass river rapids after a stressful day, provides many people with an escape from everyday life.
The TPiD system will provide insights into how paddlesport benefits your health and wellbeing, which in turn will help Canoe Wales make more informed and faster decision-making choices in the short and long-term. The need to fight for investment into Paddlesport in Wales is evident. Investment can support access and facilities; club grants and funding; engagement projects with underrepresented groups; and help demonstrate to schools and youth groups the positive impacts of paddling for young people. If we can demonstrate to funders the broader impact of paddling on people’s health and wellbeing, it will result in more investment into paddling in Wales which will support us all.
In addition to the work surrounding the wellbeing and opportunities of those involved in paddle sports, the partnership will also offer Canoe Wales ground-breaking centralised data collection and analysis platforms to allow their current and future athletes to tailor talent and potential.
Phil Nelson, CEO of TPiD said: “Given the wealth of data now available in sports, the need for advanced, state of the art data collection has become an essential need for top level sports teams. We look forward to working with Canoe Wales and helping them to remain one of the most advanced and innovative sporting bodies in the world.”

Canoe Wales will aim to publish the results once all of the data has been gathered and analysed. They really do need the BIG PICTURE which we can only get if we have a substantial amount of participants.
